Mr C.

Posted March 27, 2011, by kim

I had a fantastic teacher for grades five and six.My dear friends agreed  at the time he was amazing and we bought him many gifts for every ocassion to express how we felt. He then followed on to the senior public school we attended as the guidance counselor. He was a teacher who truly cared about his students and did many extra special things to demonstrate this. He told us stories which impacted us in life changing ways. As time passed I realized that not all teachers are the same in fact not all people we meet are the same. Some will impact us in very real and soul penetrating ways which often can not be expressed adequately in words because it involves something deeper. That connection is not age dependant and can cross many barriers. Many times through the years I thought of writing him a note to express my gratitude for the impact he had in my life. Life always seemed to get in the way and I just didn't make the time for it.

Finally, after hearing from others that he had also inquired about us, the three of us decided to call him.We set up a dinner date .   We would all meet together to remember our connection of 37 years ago. To our surprise he arrived with a red rose for each of us . We spent an enchanting evening of sharing, remembering, and connecting . My 1st thought was ....I guess he liked us as much as we liked him. True life connections are for a life time even if many years span the last time we have seen someone. To my friends Lee,Sheryl and Mr Connolly thank you for reminding me once again what really matters.
