In reponse to the question "Can anyone tell me what is the latest in liver detoxification? Or even the most steadfast method known?", my wife and I today started the liver detox program described here on the site You're the Cure.
Since I'm a data rat, I'll be recording my vital signs over this 3-week program.
I'm looking for something specific. Namely, although I have dropped about 10 pounds (mostly in body fat) over the past year, I've noticed in my data a disturbing slight, but undeniable, uptick trend over the year in my pulse pressure recordings.
Pulse pressure is the difference between the sistolic and diastolic readings when we take our blood pressure. For example, a blood pressure of 120/80 would result in a pulse pressure of 40 (i.e. 120-80).
Since January, my pulse pressure has steadily crept up from about 46 to 49. Although I feel no negative symtoms, it would seem that something is going on inside of me.
I'm suspecting that what it is is that as I've been dropping fat, I've been "going off the wagon" frequently in terms of my diet. i.e. Eating ice cream bars, drinking wine and beer, scarfing potato chips, bread, and sweets. Normally, I would avoid these foods like the plague. But this year, since I've been consuming ogbono, it seems my body fat levels have become immune to these "bad" foods.
But that's just body fat. My spider sense tells me that I can't get away with this "cheating" on my diet for free. So I suspect that the negative effects of this cheating is coming out in my blood pressure. My body must be trying harder to dump this crap that I'm eating.
Egro, time for a liver detox.
I'll keep you and everyone else posted.
