Far Infrared for Detox

Posted October 9, 2007, by peter

I don't know much about the protocol for detoxification discussed below. But, at the monthly health group I attend -- called the Smart Life Forum -- infrared sauna has been mentiond favorably a number of times both by guest speakers and resident experts within the forum.

The most recent mention was made by a speaker named Dr. Lyn Hanshew. Among other things, she was touting the product discussed on this page

Note that that page says that sweating in the sun is a great way to detoxify yourself and that this product basically mimics that way (in a concentrated way, presumably).

Well, I make it a point to do some physical work, shirtless, out in the midday sun, most every day. For example, here is my Recipe for Chopping Wood in the Sun. Maybe this practice of mine is already giving me much if not most of the benefits of that sauna product.

Still, I'd like to try out a product like the infrared sauna sometime. Has anybody else tried it?

We were thinking of buying one because of all the heath benefits touted in studies, but after attending a home trade show and sitting in one, we changed our minds. We sat fully clothed in the sauna for a good while and didn't even get hot and sweaty and the sauna was cranked up to supposedly generate perspiration. Myself, I prefer wet saunas (with hot rocks) because I feel they generate a greater degree of perspiration.
